Our wines

Domaine Georg Rafael, located in California’s Napa Valley, is currently focused on the production of Cabernet Sauvignon. We believe that the Napa Valley is origin to the very best Cabernet Sauvignon grapes and our aim is to offer one of the finest estate grown wines originating from this world famous viticulture region.

We do also produce a very small amount of Chardonnay from the Georg Rafael Vineyard, however this is currently kept under almost exclusive reserve for the Rafael family and a small circle of close friends due to its limited bottling and incredible popularity amongst this loyal (and slightly biased!) crowd.

Each and every Cabernet grape that goes into a bottle of Domaine Georg Rafael is sourced from the Georg Rafael Vineyard estate, located in the foothills of the Maycamas Mountain Range between Dry Creek Road and Redwood Road.

The first ever Domaine Georg Rafael vintage bottled was in 1996 and was at the time lovingly crafted by experienced winemaker Tom Farella at the Trois Amis Winery.

Since that first vintage we have bottled only around 500 cases yearly under the Georg Rafael label as a great share of our grapes are committed to other Napa wineries. There is however a strong possibility that this case production may grow very slightly in the years to come.

Our wine is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon, without blend, and we have traditionally used 100% French oak with 22 months of barrel aging. We strongly believe that our wine should be allowed bottle rest for three further years. Therefore our current releases are from five years after the vintage year.
